This book cover for American gods by Neil Gaiman was an assignment for an illustration course I did at the San Francisco College of the Arts. I love this book (and many other books by Neil Gaiman). And I've tried to come up with a concept that wouldn't put any clear images of characters in reader's minds just by looking at the cover. I always want to be able to develop my own mental pictures when reading books. So it had to be a little more symbolic. It was my first time using only acrylic paint, and it was a bit of a struggle ;).
